Tools
Tools that help you measure what’s changing for the people your program serves. For youth-serving organizations, nonprofits, and community programs. Credible enough to stand behind. Simple enough to actually use.
What Do You Want To Measure?
These tools help programs identify what's changing for participants, collect meaningful data, and communicate outcomes — without needing a dedicated research team.
Some tools are designed to work across a wide range of program types. Others are built for specific contexts.
Not sure which tool is right for your program? Start with the Logic Model Workbook if you're building your measurement system from scratch. Start with a Snapshot if you need data quickly for a specific stakeholder group. Start with the full Toolkit if you're ready for a complete system.

Simple Logic Model + Measurement Planning Workbook
with companion reference guide
Build your program's theory of change and a clear plan for measuring it.
This step-by-step workbook walks you through building a logic model grounded in your mission, then turns it into a practical measurement plan before your program year begins. Prompts, worked examples, and a ready-to-use template included.
Most funder-supplied logic model templates are blank grids. They don't help you build the thinking — they just collect it. This workbook is where the thinking happens. The funder's template is the deliverable.
What you'll walk away with:
-
A completed logic model grounded in your mission
-
A clear picture of what your program is designed to change
-
A measurement specification connecting each outcome to a specific indicator and data source
ALSO INCLUDED: A companion reference guide with answers to the most common logic model questions, best practices in outcome measurement planning, and a plain-language guide to the key references your funders are drawing from. A useful reference to keep alongside the workbook as your model evolves.

The surveys are intentionally broad — built to work across a wide range of youth-serving program types without modification. Not every item will fit every program perfectly, but the core constructs — confidence, belonging, engagement, skill development, and family involvement — are the outcomes that matter most across most youth-serving contexts.

WHO THIS IS FOR
Programs ready to build a real, ongoing measurement practice. Programs with funder, board, or leadership reporting requirements across multiple stakeholder groups. Programs that want one system that does everything.
A note on these tools
These products are designed for program improvement, outcome tracking, and funder reporting. They are not psychometrically validated research instruments and are not intended for use in formal research studies or academic publications.
The surveys are grounded in measurement and assessment research and built around outcome constructs commonly tracked in youth-serving and community programs — confidence, belonging, engagement, skill development, and family involvement. They are designed to give programs meaningful, actionable data within the time and resource constraints of real program work.
Results should always be reported as participant perceptions — for example: "X% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that..." This language accurately represents what the data shows and is appropriate for funder reports, board presentations, and internal program review.
These tools won't replace a formally validated instrument or an independent evaluation when those are required. What they will do is give your program a consistent, credible way to track what's changing for participants — year over year, without a research team.
If your program requires something beyond what's here, reach out. I'm happy to help you find the right fit.
Need something more customized?
The toolkits are designed to work without support — but some organizations need more than a ready-made tool.
If your program has specific needs that don't quite fit, or if you're building a measurement system from scratch, designing custom surveys, identifying the right outcomes, or need help turning your data into something useful — reach out.
FAQs
Common questions about the tools
What format do I receive?
All toolkits are delivered as Word, Excel, and PDF files. Everything works in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace — the surveys are in Word (or can be used as Google Docs), the results file is in Excel or Google Sheets, and the summary report is available as both a PowerPoint and PDF.
Do I need special software?
No. If you use Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, you have everything you need. The auto-calculating results file is built in Excel and is fully compatible with Google Sheets.
How long does it take to administer?
That depends on your program. A full evaluation cycle — from administering surveys to having results ready to share — takes approximately four weeks at a comfortable pace. If you're working toward a deadline, the whole process can be completed in about a week.
Can I use this for multiple programs or sites?
Each toolkit is licensed for use at a single site. If you run multiple sites or programs and need additional licenses, reach out — rebecca@evaluationtoolkits.com — and we'll work something out.
What if I need help?
Start with the administration guide included in your toolkit — it walks through setup, administration, and results step by step. The toolkit also includes an FAQ section that covers the most common questions. If you still need help after that, email me directly at rebecca@evaluationtoolkits.com and I'll get back to you.
